#1 Valley Relics Museum, Lake Balboa

818 native, Tommy Gelinas, wanted to preserve the history of the San Fernando Valley in his own unique way, rescuing bits and pieces of his home.  There are over 20,000 items in his collection spanning from the 1800s to present.  Some notable items are the original signage for the Palmino Club, the Tiffany Theatre, and a collection of 150 BMX bikes circa 1970 – 1980, manufactured in the San Fernando Valley.  Opened to the public in 2013, it was originally located in Chatsworth but the ever-expanding collection needed more space to be showcased and shared to the museum’s visitors.  In 2018, the Valley Relics Museum moved to their current location at Lake Balboa.

#2 San Fernando Mission (Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana), Mission Hills

Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana is the 17th of the 21 Spanish missions established in Alta California. It was founded by Father Fermin Lasuen on September 8, 1797 and is located in Mission Hills.

#3 Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Burbank

Take a tour and explore one of the busiest studios in Los Angeles, conveniently located in the San Fernando Valley!  You get to experience DC Super Heroes and Super Villains, the Central Perk Café from FRIENDS, and even some Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts magic.  During the holidays, the tour includes a trip to Stars Hollow, home of the Gilmore Girls!  Tours usually last around 3 hours depending on the package you purchase.

#4 Nethercutt Museum, Sylmar

Founded and established in 1972 by J.B Nethercutt, co-founder of Merle Norman Cosmetics, entrepreneur and car collected, the Nethercutt Museum houses over 250 American and European automobiles dating back from 1898 to 1997.  Also in their collection are nickelodeons, antique mechanical music boxes, dolls, coins, crystal figurines, and David Winter Cottages.  The museum’s Grand Salon—with its marble columns, crystal chandeliers and painted ceiling–reflect the grandeur of the 1910’s, 20’s and 30’s and showcase about 30 of the finest automobiles of that era.

#5 Galpin Auto Sports, Van Nuys

Housed inside the Galpin Ford Dealership in Van Nuys, Galpin Auto Sports (aka GAS) is an automotive custom shop with a garage full of customized cars.  Unlike your ordinary dealership, GAS creates cars from the imaginations of their customers.  Their motto: “If you can dream it, we can build it.”  Launched in 2006 by owner Bert Boeckman’s son, Beau, this branch of the dealership has a showroom called The Collection, with a multitude of custom-built cars on display, honoring the company’s storied history.
