A Tale Of Two Saigon Brothers

After a year and a half of waiting, brothers Tony and Kelvin Doan officially opened their second location of Saigon Brothers in Northridge on the corner of Nordhoff St. and Reseda Blvd, mere minutes away from their alma mater, Cal State Northridge.
“We have the original location in Simi Valley, Bamboo Café. This Saigon Brothers is me and my brother, Tony. We both graduated from CSUN and when we were undergrads, it was always hard for us to find a good place to eat around the area,” shared Kelvin about their choice of location, “When we had the money and the right concept, we opened a restaurant in Simi Valley. Then we thought about expanding to Northridge and this space just happened to be open.”
Their Northridge location opened on May 27, 2021, exactly 23 years later when they migrated to California, making this location special for them.

With a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, Kelvin explains what makes Saigon Brothers stand out.
“Our vision is different. Our mission is to provide healthy, clean, but also authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Everything we make is made to order. We have our own bakery where we bake our own fresh bread every single day. We use fresh ingredients and higher quality food. We use ingredients such as filet minion, and tiger shrimp. Our peanut sauce is made of real peanuts. We do not use MSG. We make quality dishes at affordable price in a clean, welcoming environment.”
Some of Tony and Kelvin’s recommended dishes include shrimp spring rolls, grilled pork bahn mi, the extra-large combination beef pho, and bo ne sizzling skillet with home made bread. Top that all off with the Saigon Brothers Coffee with cream, their own concoction of Vietnamese coffee with sea salt crème. They also offer vegetarian options, prepared completely separate from their meat dishes.

If you’re brave enough, you can try the Saigon Brothers “Pho Real Challenge”. Challengers consume two pounds of meats (fillet mignon, brisket, tendon & tripe) and two pounds of noodles within a one-hour time limit. Winners get a photo on the wall and a free t-shirt. All challengers must sign a waiver.
The brothers will be opening a Woodland Hills location before the year ends. Visit their website and follow them on Instagram @saigonbrothers.inc to hear the latest news.
