The San Fernando Outdoor Market is Back!

When the CDC restrictions allowed for outdoor gatherings again, business owners Christina Bernal (owner of 1984 Vintage), Joeleen Medina (co-owner of Truman House), and Board President of the San Fernando City Chamber of Commerce, Adriana Gomez planned and organized a monthly outdoor market in historic downtown San Fernando, featuring local vendor in the San Fernando Valley. Their goal was to help revitalize businesses in the area impacted by the pandemic as well as to showcase the beauty of their neighborhood.

The San Fernando Outdoor Market held its first outdoor event on March 2021, featuring 12 vendors, and closing down a section of San Fernando Rd. by the San Fernando Mall. The event was well received by the community.
In July 2021, the organizers of the San Fernando Outdoor Market collaborated with My Valley Pass, the San Fernando Valley’s #1 Visitors Guide, led by founder Oscar Urrutia. Their team up added more to the outdoor market—a classic car show, street performers such as MayronX.0, and special guests like the women of the SFV Roller Derby. They also changed the outdoor market into a night market to capture the beauty and magic of the location. According to Oscar from My Valley Pass, the time change was a definite game changer, drawing in more crowds who wanted to enjoy the market during the evening time.

The San Fernando Outdoor Market—“Where History Meets Culture”—continues to provide “a unique and historic shopping experience under the Valley Stars!”. In a year since they started, they’ve grown their vendor from 12 to more than 75, and it’s still growing! Musical performances from local artists organized by Valley Views and Radio Ollin KROJ 101.5FM, spearheaded by host Hector Perez-Roman, are now a permanent addition to this family friendly event. Past performers include Daurah Bernadette, Juan Flautista and the Latin Jazz Quartet, and Zariyah.
